An Island steeped in History

Skye is 55 miles long and Sconser is situated in the middle of the island.

Our property is located in Sconser, a crofting township steeped in history. Hectors family can be traced back to the area to the early 1700s.

Sconser is the home of the first Cuillin guide John Mackenzie who took climbers and guests up the Cuillin in the 1800s. Here a famous climbing partnership was formed with Professor Norman Collie and John Mackenzie. Together they climbed the Cuillin and there are peaks named after them. For further information, please see

Sconser also has its own 9 hole golf course this is a links course and has the most amazing views of any golf course in Scotland. Sligachan hotel with Seamus bar is 2 1/2 miles away and is family friendly serving food all day with ceilidhs throughout the summer.
